Kids to College
when a family plans for their child’s future by setting aside funds for college, the child is four times more likely to complete a degree
In partnership with the Children’s Foundation of Mississippi, Entergy has launched a My529 college savings account program to help Mississippi families establish child savings accounts. Eligible families can sign up for a Kids to College my529 account with the help of CFM! Through my529, you can open a Child Savings Account free of charge, contribute to it at your discretion, and watch it grow. Once the beneficiary has reached 18 years of age, the money can be used for tuition and other qualified expenses. A Child Savings Account is a savings account designed specifically for postsecondary education. CSAs allow families to put money away to start saving for their children to attend two- or four-year college, trade school, or technical school. When a family plans for their child’s future by setting aside funds for college, the child is four times more likely to complete a degree. When eligible families sign up for a free child savings account through the Kids to College program, Entergy will contribute $50 and will match any savings in the account up to $365 a year.
Eligible families will receive a $50 boost from Entergy just by opening the account. No signup fee or monthly minimum is required for opening or using the account. To receive the boost, families:
- Must be an Entergy customer.
- Must meet income thresholds of either single parent or guardians with up to $60,000 and $80,000 for dual earners.
The program is made possible thanks to an endowment fund created in honor of Entergy’s late Chairman and CEO J. Wayne Leonard.
Eligible individuals can sign up for an account through the Kids to College and Children’s Foundation of Mississippi program portal here.
