Tapping Into Our Potential

Improving Outcomes for Mississippi's Children and Communitites

2023 Summit hosted by the Children's Foundation of MS and the Phil Hardin Foundation, in concert with the Mississippi Economic Council

In 2022, the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation, along with the Mississippi Economic Council and the Children's Foundation of Mississipi, released a report entitled "Untapped Potential: How Childcare Impacts Mississippi's State Economy." This report provides data to help us better understand the unique needs of Mississippi’s working parents and how childcare breakdowns impact working parents, their employers, and the state economy. Along with the MS Economic Council and the Phil Hardin Foundation, we presented the data from this report at our 2022 "Untapped Potential" Summit.

CFM is thrilled to announce our second annual Summit on January 18, 2023, at 9:30 AM at Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church in Downtown Jackson. Our event, sponsored by the Phil Hardin Foundation in concert with the Mississippi Economic Council, "Tapping Into Our Potential: Improving Outcomes for Mississippi's Children and Communities," serves not only as a follow-up to the information provided last year but also as a time for us to share the work we have accomplished since last year and provide insight toward future projects. We will also be releasing the 2023 Mississippi KIDS COUNT factbook at this event, so you can be the first to get county-by-county stats on child welfare in MS.

This event will be a great time to network with other state leaders who are interested in enhancing child welfare throughout the state and will give you an opportunity to discover more resources to help children in your community. Among our many speakers will be leaders from our newly awarded Early Childhood Council Planning Grant recipient groups, champions for the foster care system, and business leaders who want to see our children thrive. Speakers include:

Russell Woods, Senior Director, Casey Family Programs’ Systems Improvement Division

Haley Fisackerly, President and CEO, Entergy Mississippi, LLC

Andrea Sanders, Commissioner, Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services

Nicole Boyd, Mississippi Senator, District Nine

Dan Torres, Senior Program Manager, Bezos Family Foundation
