CFM is thrilled to announce our third annual Summit on January 10, 2024, at 9:00 AM at the Sparkman Auditorium at the MS Agriculture and Forestry Museum in Jackson!
Our event, sponsored by the Phil Hardin Foundation, "Amplifying Our Potential: Convening and Advocating to Catalyze Positive Change in Mississippi," serves not only as a follow-up to the information provided last year but also as a time for us to share the work we have accomplished since last year and provide insight toward future projects.
Included in your registration fee will be your one personal copy of the 2024 Mississippi KIDS COUNT Factbook and lunch. Be among the first in the state to have a copy and learn more about child and youth well-being in your county!
We are honored to announce that our Keynote Speaker for the 2024 Summit is Ellen Galinsky, President of Families and Work Institute (FWI)! She is also the author of Mind in the Making, a best-selling book on early learning. Her book on adolescent development, The Breakthrough Years, will be published in early 2024 and involved nine-years of research, including three original studies. Ms. Galinsky is also the author of 90 books/reports and 360 articles for books, academic journals, magazines, and the Web.
Program also includes:
- An overview of the Early Intervention Task Force Findings from Senator Nicole Boyd and Dr. Susan Buttross.
- Dr. Anna Marie Trester and Dr. Criscillia Benford from the FrameWorks Institute will bring research-informed framing strategies and recommendations to share with our Summit attendees through tailored applications, presentations, activities, and exercises. FrameWorks is a think tank that helps mission-driven organizations communicate about social issues in ways that build public will to support positive change. FrameWorks is unique in its combination of research expertise and the ability to build capacity in using empirically-based communications recommendations.
- Sessions on early care and education and adolescent development.
- Time for a networking lunch and conversation with other attendees.
- Release and special dedication of the 2024 Mississippi Kids Count Factbook.
This event will be a great time to network with other state leaders who are interested in enhancing child and youth well-being in Mississippi and will give you an opportunity to discover more resources to help children in your community. We are exploring possible CEUs for educators and will provide updates via social media. We hope to add more disciplines with subsequent summits. We hope you will join us as we turn the curve for children in Mississippi.
